Consumption of dairy products and the incidence of cardiovascular diseases

Consumption of two or more servings of whole milk dairy products per day is associated with a significant reduction in the risks for major cardiovascular disease (CVD) and mortality, according to the data of Population Urban Rural Epidemiology (PURE) study.

For example, the risk for stroke is over twice as high in individuals who do not consume dairy products. Until the last times, dietary guidelines have recommended minimizing consumption of whole-fat dairy products for CVD prevention due to saturated fats. We can see that the current guidelines on dairy in a mirror of preventing cardiovascular disease should be changed.
