In short records, the study of HRV is started no earlier than 1.5-2 hours after a meal, in a quiet room in which constant temperature and humidity are maintained. Unless otherwise specified, a temperature of 20-22 degrees Celsius is recommended. Before starting the study, a period of adaptation to environmental conditions is required for 5-10 minutes. The setting during the study should be calm. Research in women is preferably carried out taking into account the phases of the menstrual cycle.
All possible disturbances that lead to emotional arousal should be eliminated – do not talk with the person under study, exclude phone calls and appearance of other people in the office, including medical workers.
During the study of HRV, the patient should breathe calmly, without deep breaths, do not cough, do not swallow saliva.
For practical purposes, the first minute of the recording uses for blood pressure measurement.
There are also protocols of short records of longer duration, but they usually have scientific objectives.
