In knee osteoarthritis treatment useful is high molecular weight hyaluronic acid only

Dr. Hummer and colleagues performed a meta-analysis of 14 randomized controlled trials in the impact of low molecular weight (<750 kDa) and high molecular weight (>6,000 kDa) hyaluronic acid (HA) on results treatment of knee osteoarthritis.

Compared with intra-articular placebo and low molecular weight intra-articular HA, high molecular weight HA produced a statistically significant impact on pain, which was possibly clinically substantial.
Sanofi provided funding for this study.
