Obesity treatment demands intensive multicomponent behavioral interventions

People with obesity who combine pharmacotherapy with behavioral interventions show greater weight loss and maintain that weight loss better over 12 to 18 months compared with others who use behavioral interventions alone.

The USPSTF recommends that clinicians refer adults with a body mass index of 30 or higher to intensive, multicompetent behavioral interventions.

For this reason, clinicians should offer or refer adults with obesity (a body mass index of 30 kg/m2 or higher) to intensive, multicomponent behavioral interventions.
